Kenny Jackett: Wolves are 'fan-tastic'
Wolves take on Leeds at Molineux tonight with boss Kenny Jackett thanking the club's supporters for sticking with the team during their indifferent season so far.
Jackett's side are unbeaten in five, although four of those have been draws, and he is desperate to turn improved performances into victories.
Star striker Benik Afobe could be in line for a recall, after Jackett yesterday told of how the £15million-rated 22-year-old had impressed him in training.
Ahead of the game, the head coach took the time to thanks Wolves fans for their support.
It was particularly evident during Friday's draw against Nottingham Forest, when they sang Jackett's name and created a boisterous atmosphere.
He said: "The bond between the supporters and the players was there (against Forest). The fans could see we were close.
"I'm very thankful for it, personally. The link between players and supporters is a vital one for success, at any club. That link is player-led.
"Players have to take the responsibility as do myself and the coaches, to lead.
"The supporters will react off effort, application, positive body language and ultimately, quality. You need all those traits to get the supporters onside.
"I feel in recent weeks their assessment is that they can see we are quite close, we're nearly there, and the difference they make can help."
Wolves are only two points behind where they were after 20 matches last season.
They currently have 25 from 20 games and probably need anything up to 50 points from their last 26 fixtures to steal an unlikely play-off spot.
Jackett said of their current unbeaten run: "We feel we're not too far away. The fans really got behind us on Friday. It's a shame we couldn't reward them with more goals."
