Wolves boss Kenny Jackett: Promotion is up to us
Kenny Jackett today admitted Wolves can't rely on rivals slipping up in the promotion race.
Wolves went into today's clash at Norwich four points and two places off the Championship top six with 16 games left.
But the head coach believes his side's chance of making the play-offs must depend on their own form rather than slip-ups at other clubs.
"They're good sides," said the boss. "I look at it sometimes and think: 'Who's going to drop out?' But that's the wrong way to look at it.
"You just need to look at improving yourself and your team, be a good side and then see where it takes you.
"You want others to trip up to help you and you can't affect that – but even sometimes if that happens, if you don't get your own team right it won't work to get to the right points total.
"So if you don't get your own side right, you won't make it."
Jackett challenged Wolves to go 'back to the future' and repeat their charge to the League One title to clinch a Championship play-off place.
Last season Jackett's side won 17 of their final 21 games and the Molineux head coach wants something similar this term.
"That would be a great parallel if that worked," he said.
"It was an exceptional run where we had a settled team, no injuries and the side almost picked itself maybe with the exception of Jack Price for Lee Evans, who are similar anyway."
