Kenny Jackett: Bakary Sako could leave Wolves

The 26-year-old winger, who is out of contract in the summer, was the stand-out player for Mali in their opening 1-1 draw against Cameroon in the African Cup of Nations.

Sako is away for at least another two matches, with Mali's final group game next Wednesday.

Scouts have flocked to the tournament but Wolves maintain their seven-goal top scorer has retained his form by being kept in the loop about any potential developments this month, the final window the club could claim a fee for him.

"We've had some transparency with Sako," said head coach Jackett. "We've said 'look, if a Premier League club comes in for you, we'll speak to you'.

"And because of that, we've got the best out of him. We haven't had a bid and we don't want one but if a Premier League club makes the right offer, we'd speak to the player."

Wolves are, however, primed for any club eyeing a deal this month. "We wouldn't accept a bid lower than our valuation," insisted Jackett.

Wolves previously turned down £4m from Nottingham Forest in August 2013, and, given his impact since, are unlikely to cash in – nor are they under pressure to.

"We paid £2.5m for him, but there's no desperation to sell him," said Jackett.

"Steve Morgan and Jez Moxey would love him to see the season out and then talk in the summer. Sako is relaxed about the situation."

Jackett dismissed speculation linking Wolves with QPR forward Matt Phillips, Stoke midfielder Wilson Palacios and Crawley left-sided defender Joe Walsh.

Wolves were knocked out of the FA Youth Cup 2-0 by Tottenham in a fourth-round tie at Dagenham last night.
