Wolves mean machine up and rolling again, says Dave Edwards
Dave Edwards today warned Watford that Wolves have restarted their mean machine ahead of the Boxing Day showdown.
The former Shrewsbury midfielder feels Kenny Jackett's men have rediscovered their defensive stubbornness over the past two games as they go into the televised Championship clash.
After conceding 16 goals in five games as they slid down the table, Wolves have shored up the defence – conceding just once in their last two encounters.
Edwards thinks more of the same will be necessary against the sixth-placed Hornets.
"We are definitely looking more solid again and not conceding as many goals," he said.
"We are back to our usual selves in terms of defending and blocking shots and getting out to the ball quickly.
"We are also pressing quite well even though that was difficult in the first half hour against Brighton.
"Apart from the goal they didn't have many other chances so we have improved in that respect.
"We are starting to score a few goals although there is definitely room for improvement.
"The gaffer has based his time here on conceding nils and ones and we have got back to that now."
"Since then we have picked up four points from two games which is a good return."
Watford have won their last three games and Edwards added: "It's all about us being solid and having a foundation to build on."
Striker Nouha Dicko should be fit to lead Wolves' attack in their crucial Christmas games after returning from a two-month injury lay-off as a substitute last Saturday.
"I think Dicko should be ready," said Jackett. "He trained on Monday morning after having Sunday off and he had no after-effects and no tightness. "He hasn't had to stay inside at all. He's been out there striking a ball and he's fine."
