Early-season optimism at Molineux has been punctured by three straight defeats which has seen them slide to 11th in the Championship standings.

But Jackett has made no secret of his and the club's desire for promotion and remains confident they can recover from recent setbacks in order to mount a serious challenge.

"It's right to have that feeling and you have to set your bar high, and the fact Wolves have been in the Premier League in recent seasons, it's our aim to get back there," said the head coach.

"There's no point in hiding from that fact, it's everybody's wish is to get out of this league.

"Is it going to be easy? Quite clearly, no."

Hopes of back-to-back promotions had only grown when Wolves just lost two of their opening 15 league games and Jackett feels that should not be forgotten, adding: "We had a very good start, a very solid start, and were very competitive not for two or three games but for 10 or 15 games, and were genuine contenders.

"We've come up against good sides where we've been short there's no doubt about that. Wolves' aspiration is to go up and it's still achievable this season, but quite clearly we do need to do better than we have in the last three games."
