Wolves recall Kortney Hause from Gillingham

Wolves have acted quickly to strengthen their leaky defence with the recall of Kortney Hause from Gillingham.

The 19-year-old centre-back, who was due to stay at Priestfield until January, has returned early after a request by boss Kenny Jackett.

Ethan Ebanks-Landell was withdrawn with a hamstring injury in Saturday's 3-0 defeat by Nottingham Forest and Danny Batth is one booking away from a suspension.

"Ethan has a hamstring injury and we don't know how long he'll be out for but he certainly won't be available this weekend," said head coach Jackett.

"Danny Batth is on four bookings which is one away from a suspension and, defensively, we have let in 10 goals in three games.

"So Kortney comes back in with some good experience from playing for Gillingham and England Under-20s and give us the chance to have a good look at him."

The recall of Hause allows Gillingham to sign a replacement with the loan deadline on Thursday.

Hause has played 14 of Gillingham's 18 League games this season, plus experience with England Under-20s.

"Had we gone into next week and then recalled Kortney there wouldn't have been the opportunity for Gillingham to bring anyone in," said Jackett.

"In doing so now at least it gives them the opportunity to try to make a loan signing if needed."
