Andy Delort's demands too high for Wolves

Kenny Jackett today revealed a deal for Andy Delort collapsed because Wolves weren't prepared to break their wage structure.

The 22-year-old French striker joined Wigan yesterday from FC Tours after Wolves and Brentford offered a higher fee, believed to be up to £3m.

But Delort, who scored 24 goals in 36 games last season to help Tours to Ligue One, opted to join the Latics for more money.

"We made a very considerable bid but in terms of his personal demands it wouldn't come into the wage structure," said head coach Jackett.

Tours had hinted at a training link-up with an English club in their transfer negotiations with a club other than Wigan, but Jackett said it wasn't Wolves.

"No it wasn't us," he added. "We made a very good offer but there was no discussions on a training-ground link-up with us."

Wolves midfielder Jack Price joined Yeovil on a month's loan. The 21-year-old is available for seven games, starting with tonight's Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie at home to Portsmouth.

n Late last night the club announced striker Kevin Doyle has joined Crystal Palace on loan until January.

Doyle has scored 33 goals in 173 appearances at Molineux.
