Callum McGregor has nothing to prove, insists Wolves' Kenny Jackett

Kenny Jackett today insisted Wolves target Callum McGregor has nothing to prove on Saturday as he warned Notts County have been handed hope in their survival battle.

Celtic attacking midfielder McGregor was the subject of £750,000 interest from Wolves in the January transfer window.

But the 20-year-old, who has scored 13 goals for County this season, is set to line up against them after the Hoops agreed to extend his loan with the Magpies for the rest of the campaign.

"I don't think he'll have a particular point to prove," said head coach Jackett. "He's been out looking for some experience and has settled there, like Jack Grealish has from Villa. They've used the loan market very well."

Jackett was at Meadow Lane on Saturday after Wolves' game at Stevenage was called off to watch the Magpies' 3-0 win against Coventry, which moved County to within a place and point of the safety line in League One.

"It was a good game, on a hell of a pitch as they play some rugby there," he said. "But Notts County played well and deserved their 3-0 win. That win has given them hope."
