Leigh Griffiths set to stay at Wolves
Wolves boss Kenny Jackett today poured cold water on a Molineux exit for Leigh Griffiths after admitting he wants to keep his strikers together this month.
The head coach's unhappiness with his strikeforce has contributed to speculation linking Griffiths, Kevin Doyle and Bjorn Sigurdarson leaving at a time when he is looking to add another attacker to latest acquisition Nouha Dicko.
Jackett has Coventry hitman Leon Clarke in his sights and Sigurdarson is wanted by Coventry on loan as a replacement if a deal can be struck.
Griffiths, who is Wolves' 13-goal top scorer, admitted this week he would consider a move to Celtic.
But Jackett confessed: "I'm very nervous about moving centre forwards on at this particular stage - I'm happy to keep all of them.
"I want to build up a good, strong group of strikers if I can, particularly towards the end of the season.
"I don't want to get caught short in that department, and if we're a club that has a surplus, that might be the difference."
Jackett stressed he is happy for 23-year-old Griffiths to stay and wants him to double his tally in the last 20 games of the campaign.
"I try to be as clear and straight with my players as I can, and expect the same back," said Jackett.
"I've talked to him and the nature of the conversation will remain private.
"He's expressed quite a strong interest in Celtic generally, but there's been no approach or bid."
Jackett believes Griffiths can score goals in the Championship.
"I do yes," he said when asked. "He was a good addition for us and will continue to be so.
"I certainly hope he can (double his tally) because if so, it would mean we'd be successful and we're getting the wins we want."
Jackett has allowed Jake Cassidy to rejoin Tranmere for a three-month loan.
But he hinted the only way other forwards would be allowed to leave was if they wanted out.
"The opportunity was there for Jake to go on loan in our division and we think we can keep developing him at 20," he said.
"But if there are people down the pecking order not getting games, or if they express a real desire to go, that may change things."
