Wolves' Danny Batth tipped as new Lescott
Wolves defender Danny Batth was today told he can emulate Joleon Lescott and play in the Premier League.
Former Molineux goalkeeper Matt Murray says 23-year-old Batth's determination to be the best reminds him of Manchester City stopper Lescott, 31, who is rated the best Wolves defender in a generation.
And Murray, who was part of the 2003 promotion-winning team with Lescott, reckons that level of professionalism will carry Batth to the top flight one day.
"I think Danny has the capability to follow Joleon and play in the Premier League and he'd love to do that with Wolves," said Murray.
"I know how proud Danny is to captain the club and play for Wolves and he has the same level of determination as Joleon, and I'm sure he'll sign his contract soon. When I do motivational speaking, I talk about Joleon because he doesn't leave anything to chance. He's constantly doing extra work on the training pitches and in the gym to make sure he's getting the most out of himself.
"Joleon was always doing extra work on the training ground when he was here, whether it be to develop his body or his quality on the ball.
"Even now, when I speak to him, it might be three in the afternoon and I'll ask him what he's doing and he'll say he's still at the club doing strength work. And when I talk to Danny, he's constantly doing extra work."
