Kevin Thelwell: New transfer policy key for Wolves' future
Wolves today insisted measures are in place to bar the 'big-time Charlie' culture that led to their double drop.
The club now produces a 25-page dossier on prospective signings analysing every aspect of their performance on and off the pitch. Roger Johnson's subsequent appointment as captain in summer 2011 upset the dressing room, while Jamie O'Hara fell out with fans.
But Kevin Thelwell, ahead of his first anniversary as head of football development, claims the checks and balances in place now should prevent a repeat.
"For every player we produce a 25-page dossier of information of everything about them to make sure they're what we want them to be," said Thelwell.
"When we started to look at players and the recruitment process, Ken, myself, Jez and Stuart Webber (head of recruitment) talked about what we were looking for. We want the right players but we also want to get the right people.
"You have to carry out an extensive amount of due diligence to go into making sure they fit the bill. So far we've been delighted with the way the new signings have come in and fitted in very quickly and the quality they've brought."
There won't be many signings in January as the management want to see the young players introduced since the summer flourish. Thelwell said: "It can't be wholesale change because we want to make sure the group progresses."
