Kenny Jackett is looking to keep hold of Michael Jacobs

Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett today challenged new signing Michael Jacobs to nail down a permanent move to Molineux.

The 22-year-old Derby left-winger signed a deal until January 2 yesterday.

He was set for an early debut against his parent club today in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Compton.

Jacobs is available for Saturday's League One trip to Notts County but hasn't been allowed to play in the FA Cup.

Jackett has tracked the wideman, who plays predominantly on the left, since his days at Northampton.

He wanted to sign him when manager of Millwall, but the chairman wouldn't meet the £300,000 asking price. Jacobs eventually joined the Rams for around £400,000 in June 2012.

"We'd love him to do well and join permanently – that's the idea," said Jackett.

"The length of the agreement is only until January 2 but it's 'with a view', definitely. Loans are two-fold sometimes. It might be to help you out during injuries, but it can also be a look at a potential target and this loan would run out at an ideal time with the transfer window just opening."
