The Wales international was due to play the final match of his month's stint with the Glovers this afternoon, at home to leaders QPR.

With Carl Ikeme in excellent form for Wolves and head coach Kenny Jackett happy with the cover from Aaron McCarey on the bench, he was content for the 26-year-old shot-stopper to continue at Huish Park until October 26.

Hennessey has played five games for Gary Johnson's third-bottom side, conceding 10 goals.

But Wolves' scouts have kept a close eye on him and been impressed with his progress after recovering from a twice-ruptured cruciate knee ligament.

Wolves' head of football operations, Kevin Thelwell, said: "I spoke to Gary on Thursday and he's been really pleased with how Wayne's been performing and wanted to extend the loan."
