Travis is to step down at the end of this year after 25 years' scouting. The head of academy recruitment has been at Wolves since 2009 after joining from Derby.

Wolves' head of football development Kevin Thelwell said: "I'd previously worked with Alan at Derby where we had some great success with players like Will Hughes, Jeff Hendrick and Mark O'Brien, all identified by Alan.

"That success meant I was always keen to bring him to Wolves, and he's been a fantastic servant ever since.

"It's a sad day to be losing him, but we wish him all the best for his retirement, planned for around Christmas time.

"We're now looking for a new member of staff who will certainly have a tough act to follow. We've got to make sure the academy keeps moving forward."

Travis said: "There's an opportunity for the young players to achieve at senior level and, even though I'm retiring, I'll be looking on and hoping the next batch of players will follow in their footsteps."
