Bakary Sako has no regrets about staying at Wolves

The Frenchman remained with Kenny Jackett's side despite repeated bids from Nottingham Forest that culminated in a failed offer of £3.5m late on deadline day.

And the 25-year-old, who scored Wolves' second goal in Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie against Walsall, insisted he was pleased to see the back of the transfer window after spending the final hours playing computer games while his future was being discussed.

"I was at home playing football on 'FIFA'," he said. "I turned my phone on to silent because it was ringing a lot. It was difficult to ignore but I was with my family and they kept supporting me, so I was fine.

"It was hard because I came to England to play in the Premier League. But this is football and maybe later on I will play there.

"I have no regrets about staying."

Boss Jackett has already dismissed suggestions Sako could leave when the loan window opens next week.

And the wideman confirmed he expects to remain with Wolves for the rest of the season.

"I'm very happy to stay," he said. "If something had happened and the club was happy for me to go, maybe I would have but I'm happy to stay at Wolves.

"I'm going to do my best and try to get us promoted. I will continue to enjoy it. Anything can happen but I'm planning to be here for the rest of the season."

Sako missed Saturday's 3-1 League One victory at Port Vale, fuelling speculation he had played his last game for Wolves ahead of Monday's transfer deadline.

But he was back in action on Tuesday as Jackett's side drew 2-2 with the Saddlers before progressing to the next round on penalties.

"It wasn't just because of the transfer speculation – I couldn't have played anyway on Saturday because I was at home ill," said Sako.

"I watched the game on the internet and I was very happy for the lads."
