We can do much better, says Wolves boss Kenny Jackett

The Molineux club hit the top of League One with a

last night.

It was a hard-earned third win in a row clinched by a dramatic late penalty.

But it was a game head coach Jackett conceded had been unkind to an impressive Crawley outfit who offered an early signal to Wolves that this campaign will not be without difficult challenges.

Jackett said: "Sometimes you have to find a way to win a game and I felt we did that.

"Winning three in a row in any level of football is not to be sniffed at and we're delighted with that.

"But we will be honest and concise about our performance – we know we can play better.

"I don't think it was a question of complacency. I know that there are more gears to come from our side, we're still a new group working our way through. But I also think we have to give credit to the opposition who I thought were excellent and really took the challenge to us.

"When you are defending a lead as we were for so long, you have to find that way to win. But I have played in every division and I can assure you no promotion is ever easy.

"This is not going to be a breeze, you have to work extremely hard for everything and that's what we will do."

Jackett had rested striker Leigh Griffiths from his starting XI because of the striker missing training this week to attend his court appearance in Scotland.

Griffiths came on with 20 minutes remaining along with new signing Kevin McDonald and the two combined to provide the winner – a McDonald cross forcing the hand ball from which the Scot hammered home a penalty.

Jackett added: "Kevin did a very good job in creating the goal and Griffiths showed what he is all about with the way he took the penalty."
