The pair renew the partnership they shared at Millwall. Gallen becomes the head coach's first appointment after agreement was reached with the London club.

"Joe was an integral part of what Kenny achieved when they were together at Millwall," said Wolves' head of development Kevin Thelwell.

"They know each other very well, having both worked at QPR prior to that.

"We anticipate Joe is going to be a very important part of Wolves going forward. We are delighted he has joined us."

Gallen, the eldest of three footballing brothers – Kevin and Stephen complete the set – represented Watford, Exeter and Shrewsbury Town as a player.

A back injury ended his career at the age of 26, but following his playing career he quickly moved into coaching. He is noted for his work with younger players.
