Wolves unveil What House? as new sponsor
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey today admitted the club's position made it "more challenging" to land a new club sponsor after sealing a £1million deal with What House?
The club has signed a two-year agreement with the online property search company which could bring in a seven-figure sum over the length of the contract, based on performance-related elements.
What House? take over as main sponsors from sportingbet.com, who were recently taken over by high street bookmakers William Hill.
The What House? brand – whathouse.co.uk – will appear on the new home and away first-team shirts, training kit and, for the first time, on all junior strips.
And they will change their brand colour from red to black on Wolves' gold and black home strip, to complement the club's colours.
But Moxey said: "It's more challenging than it's been in previous years because we're going through a difficult time on the pitch and, ultimately, everyone who is interested in football wants to see good results.
"We haven't had good results so therefore it makes attracting commercial partners more difficult.
"I think the signing of this two-year contract proves we still are an attraction for sponsors and we're delighted we've got it."
Moxey admitted the new deal was less lucrative than the sportingbet.com deal but insisted it ranked among the best in the Championship.
"We don't get into talking about the finances but last year we were in the Premier League so the amounts were much higher than they are in the Championship," he said.
"In terms of Championship football, it's right up there in terms of the very best deals – it will be in the top two or three.
Moxey added: "This is an important commercial agreement and a great, tangible endorsement for the way we deliver value for our portfolio of sponsors.
"We're delighted What House? have decided to become our main sponsor, after a year supporting the club as the sponsor of the back of the first-team shirts.
"They are a national brand, providing an exceptional service to the thousands of whathouse.co.uk users looking to purchase a new home."
The deal means Wolves will have a new main club sponsor and new kit manufacturers this summer after unveiling a £1m, four-year deal with Puma last month to replace Burrda, the suppliers for the last four years.
Fans will be able to buy the new Puma home kits at the home game against Burnley on Saturday April 27.
