Dean Saunders: Wolves need two more loan deals
Wolves manager Dean Saunders wants another two signings in the loan window to help keep the club in the Championship.
The Molineux boss landed his first major capture yesterday with the arrival of giant Reading centre-back Kaspars Gorkss on a 93-day loan with a view to a permanent move in the summer.
The 31-year-old, who became Wolves' oldest signing since Gary Breen was Mick McCarthy's first capture in July 2006, is expected to replace Christophe Berra in Saturday's trip to Derby.
Saunders wants to push through two more signings of extensive Championship experience – believed to be a left-back and another striker – before the loan window shuts on March 28.
"I'm hoping we can get a couple more players in," said Saunders. "I've got a list of players who we should sign to enable us to go up, but right now, we probably need a couple more to help us stay up.
"We might have to wait until the summer to get them, especially the ones who are out of contract.
"But I might have to do something for now, although ideally I want to sign players who are also ready for next season."
Saunders hinted that any more Premier League targets returning to the Championship must possess Gorkss' determination.
He said: "All the players I named to the chairman are lads who have done well in this league and w have got to get players who aren't demotivated coming out of the Premier League, thinking they're too good to be in the Championship.
"Sometimes you've got to get players who know they're good in this league, can do the basics and enjoy training not thinking they're better than they are."
Saunders believes Gorkss, who has won back-to-back Championship titles with Queens Park Rangers and Reading, is an important signing and sees him playing a big part in the future, despite his age.
The Wolves boss said: "I have put the first building brick in place because his character and determination sum up what I want from all the players at the club."
