Bakary Sako added to Wolves' injury list
Bakary Sako has become Wolves' latest casualty to join summer signings Tongo Doumbia and Bjorn Sigurdarson on the sidelines.
The £3million French winger – Wolves' match-winner until recently – appears to have 'hit the wall' that stopped Doumbia in his tracks, and he has also sustained a hamstring injury.
Sako was taken off during yesterday's 3-1 defeat at Crystal Palace – the fourth game in a row he has struggled for form – and is a doubt for Saturday's FA Cup potential banana skin at Luton.
Asked if the winger needed a rest, manager Stale Solbakken said: "That's also something we have to think about now. At the moment, Sako has got something in his hamstring as well."
Sigurdarson and Doumbia were unavailable for yesterday's game, Wolves' third defeat in a row.
Solbakken said: "With Bjorn it was the same thing, his thigh, that he missed the game against Blackpool. He struggles to sprint to his maximum.
"Tongo has a hamstring problem which he feels he may pull at any time. He wasn't able to train 100 per cent and that has also been a little bit of trouble for me with the new players.
"I think Bjorn has got more of a chance to be fit for Saturday – it may be good or bad in a way. With Tongo it may be a little longer, but I can't say for sure."
Solbakken believes the injuries haven't helped Wolves'cause, with many of his summer signings spending large chunks of the season out injured.
The Wolves boss said: "Slawomir Peszko, Razak Boukari, Tongo, Sigurdarson have been out for short or long periods.
"Tongo has had a breakdown due to not having a pre-season and felt tight in his hamstring and Sako is having a bit of a problem, as well, with his hamstring.
"We have had our problems with injuries, and, while that is no excuse, in some areas the competition for places isn't strong.
"The most important thing though is the players who are here – we are not in a situation where we can buy ourselves out of it.
"The players, with myself and the backroom staff have to get us out of this and overall it's my responsibility."
And Solbakken admitted signing one or two players in January won't solve everything.
He said: "It's not as if one or two players can come in and everything will be fine because we're struggling with many different kinds of problems.
"For some players it's the physical aspect, for some it's mental, with the position of the team at the moment with the confidence thing.
"Palace were sharper in the mind and in the legs."
