Wolves boss admits his players are 'scared'

Under-pressure Wolves boss Stale Solbakken today admitted players have become "afraid and scared" after their season hit a new low.

Frustrated fans booed the players off the pitch following Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to Nottingham Forest, their eighth game without a win.

Chairman Steve Morgan, who turned 60 yesterday, left Molineux several minutes before the end.

Wolves are desperate to give Solbakken time for the long-term project to start paying dividends.

But with another home game against Championship form team Millwall tomorrow night, results must improve quickly.

Solbakken had a meeting with the players at training yesterday and the manager confessed he has to rebuild confidence.

The Norwegian said: "You could see in the second-half, at times, we were scared and frustrated.

"It's important we don't do that and carry on believing and don't let our heads drop.

"After we went 2-1 down, I saw the first signs of players not wanting to look for hard passes and making easy passes look difficult.

"If you're afraid of something you'll never turn the corner so we have to get over that and make sure we trust what we're doing.

"We have to get rid of any nervousness because that won't help.If you haven't won in eight, it's also a bit in the head.

"We were a little bit too 'Wild West' at times."

Adlene Guedioura's scorching winner meant that for the second time this season a former Wolves player returned to haunt his old team.

Mark Davies also hit a late equaliser for Bolton at Molineux last month.

Solbakken sold the Algeria international to Forest for £1m without speaking to him.

But, asked if he regretted the sale, the Wolves chief said: "Not really. He had one year left and it wasn't the hardest choice when we got a fair price."
