Wolves this afternoon received a massive blow with the news that Emmanuel Frimpong is out for the rest of the season.
The midfielder ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Saturday's Premier League win at QPR during a fair challenge with Joey Barton, and has returned to parent club Arsenal.
Frimpong, who had been due to remain at Molineux until the end of the season, will now see specialists in London over the next few days before undergoing surgery.
The 20-year-old suffered the same injury to his left knee in 2010.
But he had made a highly impressive start to life at Wolves in his five games for the club.
Frimpong is expected to be out for a several months and will miss the rest of the season.
A statement released by the club today said: "Everyone at Wolves would like to thank the midfielder for his efforts while at the club and join Arsenal in wishing him a swift recovery."
