Wolves boss Mick McCarthy today insisted midfield trio Adlene Guedioura, Nenad Milijas and Dave Edwards are ready for the Premier League challenge at Liverpool this Saturday.

Guedioura turned in a man of the match performance in last night's 5-0 Carling Cup rout of Millwall, scoring a beauty and making one for George Elokobi.

Milijas got an impressive 90 minutes under his belt while Edwards scored after three minutes on his comeback after eight-and-a-half months out with a back injury.

McCarthy is believed to be considering playing Kevin Doyle as a lone striker at Anfield which opens up a space for an extra midfielder and the three last night all staked a claim.

"It's nice because we got Adlene, Dave and Nenad back out there and these players needed the game," said McCarthy.

"Whether it's for Saturday or not, I know these players are up to match speed and, if I need to call on them, I can. "

McCarthy was hugely relieved and pleased at the response from his players after Saturday's 3-0 debacle against QPR.

"It was a much-needed victory for all of us.

"I never thought we'd beat Millwall 5-0 because they're a decent side. It was hard-working and professional, although we did work hard on Saturday."
