Emphatic win will boost TNS

Interim boss Chris Seargeant feels the manner of TNS’s dominant midweek victory over Cefn Druids will serve the Saints well moving forward.

The New Saints got back on track and recorded a first victory since the shock sacking of former manager Scott Ruscoe with a resounding 5-0 success over Cymru Premier’s bottom side Druids on Tuesday.

The scoreline could have been far more, such was the one home side’s dominance, and that factor pleased the caretaker manager and former striker Seargeant.

Seargeant said: “It was the best I’ve seen us for a while.

“It will be huge (moving forward). It’s not just how many goals we scored, it’s the whole performance, the clean sheet as well.

“We freshened it up as well, lads have come in, there’s a togetherness there that we can move forward with.

“And the most important thing is we are scoring goals again, and not just from set-pieces.”

TNS, second in the table and three points behind Connah’s Quay, have a break from action this weekend, and are next in action at Flint Town on Saturday week.
