Mr Brown, from Shrewsbury, was the lucky winner of the Shropshire Star’s win a safe standing season ticket competition held earlier this summer.

Mr Brown will be joined by his son Jake, 18, in the safe standing section of the Salop Leisure South Stand at Montgomery Waters Meadow this season.

Jake had already pledged to be part of the historic safe standing move at the Meadow but will now be stood next to his father as they roar on John Askey’s side from behind the goal this season.

Tomorrow’s visit of Bradford City sees the launch of Town’s exiting new-look pioneering development.

The crowd-funded move made Shrewsbury the first professional club in England and Wales to launch safe standing in their all-seater stadia.

A total of £65,000 – partly boosted by club funds – was raised as Town gained national and global attention.

Spaces in the south stand rail seating are open to any supporters as fans are able to pick and chose the games they wish to stand as Town’s 12th man.
