Shrewsbury's Shaun Rowley relishing chance to shine
Goalkeeper Shaun Rowley is relishing first-team football having joined Slough Town on loan.
The young Shrewsbury Town shot-stopper moved to the Southern League side last week as cover for regular No.1 Mark Scott, who is recovering from an injury which saw him shatter his C6 vertebrae.
Rowley, who had a spell in National North with Chorley earlier in the campaign, marked his debut last weekend with a penalty save in a 4-1 victory over Cinderford.
Rowley, 21, said: "I just love playing football. Games are what I need being a young goalkeeper so when the chance arose I wanted to get down there and get it all sorted so I could play for them.
"Another factor was how well they are doing, so joining a team chasing promotion it just adds a bit more to it and there's something to really play for.
"I don't think my first game could have gone much better really, a nice win to get settled in and have a look at the lads in front of me and I was impressed.
"It's a tough league but I was very impressed with the football that was played and the penalty save was a nice little moment for me personally. I did enjoy that.
"Chorley was great, the highest standard I've played. I know now the pressure of needing three points every week to keep maintaining the league position and hopefully that experience will help me."
