Tyler Roberts eager to cement a Shrewsbury place
New Shrewsbury hitman Tyler Roberts is ready to stamp his mark on League One as he targets an immediate spot in Town's first team.
The 18-year-old forward, who yesterday joined on loan from West Bromwich Albion until the end of the season, is keen to continue his development after beginning the season at Oxford United.
Roberts, a graduate of The Hawthorns' youth set-up, failed to start a League One game for the U's, making 14 appearances from the bench.
But he insists the message from Tony Pulis's Premier League outfit was to make his mark in the third tier.
"They hope for me to stamp my mark on League One a bit more and to push myself into the team, to get more goals and help the club," said Roberts.
"I want to get in the team a bit more than I did at Oxford, though I still thank their manager for the chance. It was a great experience to start in the cup competitions and to come on in League One was a massive help. I think it's boosted my career massively.
"I feel a lot sharper and quicker. I think I'm definitely ready for more League One football."
Roberts, who netted twice – in the FA Cup and EFL Trophy – during his time at Oxford, has also made his competitive bow for the Baggies, coming off the bench against Liverpool last season.
