Shrewsbury Town must improve says Mat Sadler

Experienced defender Mat Sadler has expressed his desire to get Town out of trouble but admits players cannot afford to feel sorry for themselves.

Salop fell to the bottom of League One after suffering a heavy 3-0 defeat at Fleetwood Town on Tuesday and Sadler, who returned to the starting line-up at Highbury Stadium, confirmed Shrews may have to start thinking differently.

"It hurts us," he conceded. "But when things do hurt, we have to have a different way of dealing with it when we're out there.

"We're the only ones who can put it right out there.

"I've been part of enough victories and enough defeats and away games like at Fleetwood. Things have to be put right and said in the coming days that put these things right.

"The goals we conceded, we didn't do the percentages enough against a team I know we should have got a result against."

Sadler, who is in his second spell with the club, added: "I do not want to be part of a relegation at Shrewsbury Town. The club's too good for that and the fans don't deserve that. We've got to be men and put it right."
