The League One bosses will lock horns tomorrow as Salop travel to take on the high-flying Blades, who are unbeaten in 12 third-tier outings.

Hurst takes charge of his fifth Shrewsbury clash and is unbeaten in four, but has stressed that the Bramall Lane challenge will be his toughest so far.

Sheffield sit third in League One, with a game in hand over both Scunthorpe and Bradford City.

Wilder is a lifelong United supporter, having also represented them twice in his playing career.

While Hurst, who represented Rotherham almost 500 times in a 15-year career, is a staunch Wednesday fan.

The duo spent three seasons together with Rotherham, where their allegiances were often the subject behind the scenes.

"That's a fact. He supporters them (Wednesday). I support us. I'm not being vicious or vindictive," said the Blades boss.

"I'm making sure everybody knows which side of the city he's on!"

Wilder is not surprised his ex-team-mate has made the treacherous journey from non-league to League One boss, and is confident he knows one characteristic of a Paul Hurst squad.

"I really like Hursty. He's a good guy and had a fantastic career at Rotherham," added Wilder.

"He broke in to the team when I was there and, with the rivalry between the two clubs we support, we used to have a bit off with each other.

"I think his sides mirror what he's like as a guy. They are always competitive."
