Brian Caldwell: Greenhous move offers chance for others at Shrewsbury Town

Town chief executive Brian Caldwell has admitted his disappointment that Greenhous is ending its shirt sponsorship and stadium naming deals.

The agreements finish at the conclusion of the season. But Caldwell said the long association between the two had been good for both parties and the decision represents an opportunity for other businesses.

"It's obviously disappointing from the club's point of view," he told shrewsburytown.com

"We've had a long relationship with Greenhous, from the stadium naming rights and obviously the shirt sponsors over the years.

"We're probably in a fortunate position, that we've had that long-term relationship. It's been a very good one, hopefully for both parties.

"It also offers somebody else an opportunity to come in."

Caldwell said the club would also look at sponsorship for the backs of the shirts. "We're definitely looking at that," he added. "The back of the shirt is an important one. The shorts as well."

Caldwell also hailed the impact of new boss Paul Hurst and said the timing of the appointment gives him time to assess the squad before the January transfer window.

"He's done well," he said.

"He's got an opportunity just now to look at the players that we have here.

"Then if he wants to strengthen or move things about in the January window, he's got the opportunity, rather than coming in later, for example, and in January he's caught cold."
