Andy Mangan happy to 'share' Town strike

Striker Andy Mangan wants to 'share' the equaliser with Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro after they combined to rescue a point for Shrewsbury Town against Scunthorpe.

Both players want to claim the dramatic last-gasp goal which clinched a 2-2 draw after Mangan's run across Luke Daniels put the goalkeeper off from fellow substitute Akpa Akpro's cross.

It looked as if the ball went straight in without touching Mangan on Saturday, but the forward reckons he made contact.

He said: "I believe I got a touch but I think Jean is desperate for the goal to be his. How about we share the goal? Because if I hadn't have ran there, it wouldn't have gone in.

"I did think it came off me – that's why I went wild when I celebrated – but, genuinely, it doesn't bother me who scored.

"We got the goal which was massively important for the side and I believe we deserved at least a point.

"Jean-Louis had it and you just pick a space and run into it. It was a great ball and let's say I might have touched it, I might not have touched it!

"It doesn't bother me – it was a great ball and a great goal and it caps off a great week for us."

The point made it seven games unbeaten in the league for Town and extended the gap to the drop zone to nine points with 10 games left after six of the seven sides below them lost.

Mangan reckons Town should have won and urged them to keep their run going.

He said: "We'd have love to have got the other two points because it would have put us 11 points clear and then we'd have been looking up, but we just need to keep this run going.

"I thought we shot ourselves in the foot a bit in the second half and the lads showed massive character to come away with a draw.

"I felt we were in control so to go 1-1 we were frustrated and we wanted to get the winner, then to go 2-1 down I thought we were a bit unlucky. We didn't deserve that."
