James Collins won't dwell on Town reverse

Super striker James Collins will not let Shrewsbury Town dwell on their last-minute defeat against Exeter with a huge match against Burton Albion just around the corner.

Town's top scorer made it double figures for the season after his ninth and 10th goals of the campaign gave Town a 2-0 lead against the Grecians at St James Park.

But Paul Tisdale's side hit back in the second half to pull off a stunning fightback and snatch the points with a stoppage-time winner from Tom Nichols.

If Town had of held on, they would have picked up their seventh consecutive victory in League Two and Collins feels their recent form shouldn't be forgotten.

"Everyone was disappointed after the game – especially when you look at the position we were in," he said.

"We were two goals up and we have come away with nothing to show for it. We were gutted, but we're not going to dwell on it.

"We've had an unbelievable run up to now and we have to take this result on the chin. We have a huge game against Burton coming up and we want to win it."

Before the start of the season Collins set himself a target of getting into double figures before Christmas.

But despite achieving that against an in-form Exeter side, the forward felt he should have had more goals in the game.

He said: "Ten goals before Christmas is always good for a striker but I should have put the game to bed.

"First half, we were excellent but the second half was not good enough from any of us. I just wish I had got that third goal that would have sealed the game."

Collins was also disappointed Town let Exeter back into the game after conceding so early in the second half.

"By letting them score we let them get their tales up and it meant the crowd got behind them," he said. "We gave them momentum."
