The Bolton youngster's surging run set up a a gilt-edged chance for Chris Porter in the second-half, but his fellow loanee could only head Joe Jacobson's pinpoint cross over from close range.

Salop were fortunate to escape when substitute Steve Beleck went down under the oustretched boot of Darren Jones, but visiting penalty appeals were ignored by referee Carl Boyeson.

Chris Weale kept out a stoppage-time header from Mark Roberts before Taylor ran clear with a third goal in the offing. But after Day pushed the winger's shot away David McAllister's follow-up was cleared off the line by Sam Hoskins.
