Rob Edwards on Telford defeat: The better team won

Rob Edwards admits AFC Telford United deserved to lose 2-0 at Kidderminster Harriers, stating: "The better team won."

The Bucks are now four games without a win across all competitions.

Andre Brown and Andre Wright struck for the hosts at Aggborough, and Edwards said: "First and foremost, the better team won.

"It was disappointing to concede that first goal, that first goal is always really important.

"In the second half, we made a couple of adjustments to try to get back in but we conceded another poor goal.

"We sort of shot ourselves in the foot, really."

Telford have failed to score in three of their last four games.

Edwards is aware of the need to quickly regain a cutting edge, and said: "They defended their box really well and we let ourselves down a couple of times in our own.

"We've gone from a team that looks like it can score quite freely, to needing to find that killer instinct again.

"We've got to carry that threat going forward because, otherwise, there's too much pressure on our defenders.

"We need to find that balance again, and find it quickly."

Edwards felt his side showed Kidderminster – who are seventh – a bit too much respect.

"We were a little bit stand-offish, and that's not us," he said.

"We need to believe in ourselves.

"As I said, I thought Kidderminster were better and deserved it."

Meanwhile, the Bucks chief has confirmed they are interested in bringing in Wolves goalkeeper Jack Ruddy.

The Molineux club released a statement on its website to say he had agreed to join Telford on loan until the end of the season, but deleted the post after Telford staff confirmed that no paperwork had been signed.

Ruddy, 20, recently had a loan spell at League One side Oldham Athletic.

Edwards is searching for another goalkeeper after the departure of Sheridan Martinez.

He joined Solihull Moors last week, without playing a competitive game for the Bucks.

On Ruddy, Edwards added: "It's something we've looked at, but haven't done as of yet.

"It's well documented that we lost a goalkeeper and we want to work with two goalkeepers.

"We are interested in one but it's not something we've done yet."
