Bucks are striving to add bite in midfield
AFC Telford United are hoping to land a Conference midfielder with bite for the next leg of their National North survival battle.
Management duo Rob Smith and Larry Chambers have identified a ball-winning presence to beef up their central midfield options for Saturday's trip to Curzon Ashton.
"We're looking to bring in a midfielder before the weekend but it's the same old problem – it's down to clubs and how their squads are in terms of injuries and suspensions," said Chambers. "It's someone who can give us some presence in the middle of the park.
"In fairness we've been looking for that for quite a while but it's not been easy.
"The FA Trophy has hampered things because clubs don't want players cup-tied and if you're bringing a player in for a month and you've got two Trophy games, is it worth bringing someone in?"
Meanwhile, Jake Hibbs's chances of remaining at the New Bucks Head for another month are receding.
Jim Harvey, caretaker manager at Hibbs's parent club Halifax, wants to have a closer look at the young winger.
"There was an agreement with Darren Kelly prior to Jim Harvey taking charge but as soon as he was sacked and Jim took over, he wants him around the place," said Chambers.
