Mike Grogan pledges to play through pain

Mike Grogan insists he is ready to play through the pain barrier to give AFC Telford United a much-needed boost at home to North Ferriby tomorrow.

The 26-year-old midfielder hasn't played this season after hurting his knee in the pre-season friendly at Market Drayton on August 1.

Grogan finally had a scan a week ago with the results expected any time now.

And the Bucks' 2013-14 player of the year says he is ready to play after training three times last week.

"If it means me playing through a bit of pain, I'm willing to because I'm dying to play," said the Scouse midfielder.

"Hopefully I'll be involved tomorrow. They told me the scan results would be through in 10 days and if they come through in time and they show a niggle and I need to rest, so be it.

"But I've got a chance to come into the team and hopefully cement a place.

"I didn't know whether to train or not because I didn't know if it would get worse. But I trained three times last week and it felt good so I carried on.

"Then I went to try it out on Saturday and it felt a bit sore so I didn't train on Tuesday."

Grogan's possible return is well timed with striker Dave Hibbert (knee) and midfielder Jack Rea (hand) out for three weeks and Jack Deaman serving a one-match ban tomorrow.

"I've been watching us struggle and it's not nice,"added Grogan.

"I've been a part of this team when it's been a success two years ago and when it's been a failure last year.

"With my experience I feel as if I know what it takes to do well so I want to help out."

Telford are rock bottom while North Ferriby are unbeaten since the opening day.

But Grogan declared: "They're all cup finals now and we need to win all of them to catch up with the teams who have left us so far behind."B
