Elvins has left the building at Telford
AFC Telford United signing Rob Elvins has done a dramatic U-turn and decided against the move - although his Worcester City team-mate Ryan Rowe has joined.
Boss Rob Smith had Elvins in the bag as his latest defensive capture last night, only for the stopper to have a change of heart today.
He said: "Rob signed but then decided work commitments wouldn't allow him to do the travelling. I phoned him at 11pm last night and he agreed to come and he signed today.
"But then he had a change of heart and I think he'll be going to a club closer to home.
"It was only going to be a short-term thing anyway but it's disappointing because I felt we could do with his physical presence and he's available."
Elvins was needed as defender Jack Deaman is suspended for tomorrow, while fellow stopper Lucas Dawson starts a three-match ban after the game.
A towering centre-half who has played much of his career in the top tier of non-league football, he played in 40 games and scored seven goals for Aldershot as they won the Conference Premier in the 2007-08 season.
Striker Rowe made his name as a prolific scorer for Stourbridge, where he netted 73 goals in 146 games, and is eligible for tomorrow's National North visit of North Ferriby.
Smith said: "Ryan is short of match fitness but he'll be involved in some form tomorrow. We've taken him on a non-contract basis.
"He's been a bit disappointing in the last few seasons at Brackley and Worcester and he needs to find a club where he can start scoring again.
"But if he gets match-fit and starts scoring again, it could be here."
A powerful forward who since played for Brackley before joining Worcester, he will replace the gap left up front by Dave Hibbert and Amadou Bakayoko.
Hibbert has been ruled out for three weeks with tweaked medial ligaments, while Bakayoko's one-month loan from Walsall is due to expire after tomorrow's game against North Ferriby.
