AFC Telford to sign mystery man tonight
AFC Telford United's mystery winger will achieve one of his footballing ambitions when he finally signs for the club tonight.
The un-named wide man has agreed to join the Bucks on a one-year deal after reaching a settlement with his club on the remaining 12 months on his contract.
Boss Steve Kittrick has been keen to keep the identity of his man under wraps until he signs in case anything goes wrong, with other clubs known to be interested in the player.
But with the player finally set to put pen to paper on his deal tonight, Kittrick has revealed he's a local lad who has always fancied a move to the New Bucks Head.
He said: "We're very, very close now – I expect him to sign tonight. He had all the paper work at his old club sorted and now he is looking forward to playing for Telford –something he has always wanted to do.
"He is a local lad, he lives 20 miles away but he works in Telford so it's a great move for him. He's going to have no concerns about getting to training and I'm delighted to have him.
"It's great for me as a manager to know that I'm signing a player who I know really wants to be here.
"It's dragged on a bit, I think we have been speaking for four or five weeks, but he had to sort out his contract with his old club.
"He is a good lad who has just sorted himself out with an apprenticeship. But he is also a good player and I think the fans will really take to him."
As well as being a good character in the dressing room, Kittrick also outlined what the mystery man will bring on the field.
The Bucks chief said: "He is a good on the ball, he's got a good pedigree, he's pacey, inventive and he has also won the Conference North before.
"Not only that but he can also play full-back which is something that is particularly pleasing for me, because I like my players to be able to play in two positions.
"He's a player who has experience of full-time football. All his previous clubs have taken him away from the Telford area so now he's just delighted to have everything settled."
