Goalkeeper James Montgomery has agreed to stay at AFC Telford for next season's promotion push - as Hednesford midfielder Tom Thorley also joined the cause.

Montgomery impressed after joining on non-contract terms in March and Bucks boss Steve Kittrick has made no secret of his desire to retain the talented 20-year-old's services for 2015-16.

His performances towards the end of the season have proved enough to earn a new one-year deal.

Montgomery's signing will come as a welcome surprise to some as he had been on trial at League One Walsall, and appeared for their reserves following the end of the Conference Premier season.

Thorley, 25, has also joined on a one-year deal, becoming the fourth new signing through the New Bucks Head doors in the close season so far.

He follows the captures of Mat Bailey, Neil Harvey and Jay Denny, and is another player with significant Conference North experience.

Thorley has become an integral part of the Hednesford midfield which saw them challenge for the play-off positions in the last two seasons.

He was named Supporters Player of the Season for the Pitmen in 2014.

The Bucks continue to hold discussions with targets and are likely to announce at least one further signing in the next 48 hours.
