Steve Kittrick: Jordan Deacey refused to play
AFC Telford United manager Steve Kittrick has vowed there will be a 'massive change' on and off the pitch next season following his team's 1-0 defeat at Dover Athletic.
That defeat – coupled with a win for Southport against Torquay and a draw for Alfreton against Barnet – has left the Bucks 15 points from safety with five games to play.
Only goal difference is keeping Telford in the Conference Premier and they will be officially relegated at home to Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday if Alfreton avoid defeat to Wrexham regardless of their own result.
Kittrick said: "I can't get my head around recruiting for next year until I know where I am and I can speak to players and staff.
"But there will be a massive change next year.
"We will see a better organisation off the field and there will be players who want to come and play for this club, and not just pick their money up."
That last comment was borne partly out of frustration after midfielder Jordan Deacey allegedly refused to come off the bench in the second half at The Crabble.
Kittrick said: "It was 10 minutes into the second half ,I asked Jordan Deacey to go on and he refused to go on.
"He's put himself in a very silly situation. This club pays his wages, I have asked him to go on, he's said no."
Kittrick is also aiming to recruit a new assistant manager. He has two targets in mind to succeed Andy Todd who left to join Hednesford in February.
And he said: "There's two people that I want. They are both at other clubs and they are not prepared to speak seriously about coming until A: They know where we are and B: they know where they are with their own club.
"I don't think they will take a lot of prising away. They are both in the Conference at the moment
."
