Telford boss confident of two new signings
Steve Kittrick remains confident of further strengthening his AFC Telford squad soon – despite a frustrating transfer deadline day.
The former Guiseley chief was working late into the night to bring in a defender before the 11pm window closed on Monday.
Although he could not quite seal the deal, it could be resurrected when the loan window re-opens next week.
And Kittrick is still eyeing up to three new signings, including a striker.
He said: "I finished on Monday at 10.40pm trying to get one over the line which didn't get done, but I think it probably will do next week.
"I'd like two or three in, but as I keep saying they have got to be the right people.
"I am sure that by the Dartford game (a week on Saturday) we will have a couple in."
Kittrick has already made six signings since taking the managerial helm at the end of December.
Former Bradford Park Avenue midfielder Jack Rea, ex-Chester defender John Disney and midfielder Danny Ventre, formerly of Derry City, have all joined until the end of the season.
He has also secured deals for young Everton defender Ben McLaughlin and young Bolton Wanderers full-back Glenn Matthews, both on an initial month's loan.
Kittrick also landed Kyle Dixon on loan from League One Notts County although the player has since returned to his parent club and signed for Conference North Boston United.
Having previously chased youth, Kittrick is now looking to add a little maturity to his team. He said: "I am looking for players with a bit of experience in this league – and maybe above."
Telford's friendly clash with Birmingham City U21s yesterday was postponed because of a frozen pitch.
