Marcus Bignot ruled out of AFC Telford job
Solihull Moors manager Marcus Bignot has ruled himself out of the running for the vacant AFC Telford United manager's job following talks with the Bucks.
Bignot, who began his senior career with Telford United in 1992, would have been a popular choice to succeed Liam Watson, who was sacked on Saturday.
And the Bucks did speak to him, but Bignot has told them that while Telford was close to his heart, the time was not right to leave Solihull.
They have made great strides in recent years and are currently in the Conference North play-off places.
He said: "It is with a heavy heart that I haven't been able to take the conversation further with regards the potential of being the next manager.
"It was a hard decision, because it was a job I have always wanted. Telford gave me my first opportunity after being released by Birmingham.
"I captained the club and turned from a boy into a man there. It definitely aided me in terms of my professional career.
"I wasn't offered the job. I need to make that clear, but they got in touch with Solihull to discuss the position of manager.
"And I felt I needed to make it clear that it is a job I want. It was just the wrong time.
"I am on a project here. Solihull gave me my first opportunity and to leave at this moment wouldn't feel right."
The Bucks were today continuing their search, having drawn up a short list of just four.
They also intended to make approaches to a number of other targets.
Chairman Ian Dosser said: "It was our original intention to complete this process in time for tomorrow's game against Eastleigh.
"That is now unlikely. Andy Todd and Andy Pryce will take the team for the game."
