Jonathan Hedge happy to step into the firing line for AFC Telford at Bristol City
AFC Telford goalkeeper Jonathan Hedge is undaunted by the prospect of facing Bristol City's blistering attack in Sunday's big FA Cup clash.
The 26-year-old is hoping that a strong performance against the League One leaders will help him reclaim the No.1 spot from rival Freddy Hall.
Hall is cup-tied for Sunday's historic second round tie at Ashton Gate, which will be the first time the re-formed Bucks have appeared at this stage of the competition
And Hedge is relishing the chance to step into the firing line against League One's joint-second most prolific attack.
"When you look at the Bristol City team sheet you see the quality that they have got but no way does it faze me," he said.
"It makes me more determined to keep them out.
"If you put on a good display and keep out the likes of Kieran Agard, Aaron Wilbraham and Luke Freeman you have done well.
"But I won't go there daunted by the fact that I am facing such good players. It spurs me on to do even better and challenge myself against them. It is a really good test for all the players. If we win our individual battles then hopefully we will come out on top."
Sunday will Hedge's his first appearance for the Bucks since their first round replay win over Conference South Basingstoke on November 18.
His last league start came in the 2-0 defeat at Lincoln City on October 11 which saw him criticised by boss Liam Watson for the Imps' second goal.
Hall has been preferred for Conference Premier duties since then and has played the last seven consecutive matches as a result.
But Hedge said: "It would be nice to get that No.1 shirt back not only for the Cup games but for the league games as well. It is a good opportunity for me to show what I can do."
