Liam Watson keeping tabs on Josh Hancock

AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson is keeping close tabs on winger Josh Hancock's progress at Witton Albion.

The 24-year-old summer signing was hampered by blisters in pre-season and had yet to make a competitive appearance for the Bucks, before being loaned back to his former club.

He was sent out on an initial month's loan in August and that deal was extended for another month at the end of September, after Hancock had bagged four goals.

Two weeks of that current arrangement remain before a further decision has to be made, but Watson insisted the talented wide-man remains in his thoughts.

He had been close to recalling him for last weekend's trip to Lincoln City as cover for Mike Grogan, who was suffering from a dead leg.

He said: "I thought Mike Grogan was going to be fitter than he was on Saturday, so did the physio, and I would have recalled Josh but it ended up becoming too late in the day.

"I know he scored a lot of goals at Witton and he is in my thoughts. But I want to bring him in to put him in the team, not on the bench."

With Grogan set to be fit for this weekend's trip to Woking there is not the same urgency to bring him back for Saturday.

But hinted he could return in time for the FA Cup clash at Spennymoor on October 25.

He said: "I'll just see how it goes with the FA Cup coming round. We have got to have seven on the bench for that."

Should that be the case, Hancock will be aiming to follow the lead of Telford team-mate Sam Smith, who has started the last two games for the Bucks after returning from a month's loan at Brackley.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jordan Deacey should be back in contention for a place after recovering from a hamstring injury.

His return will be a welcome addition to a Bucks squad, which has had to cope with several niggling injuries as well as illness in the last couple of weeks.
