AFC Telford look for a coach as Alan Moogan leaves
AFC Telford United were today beginning the hunt for a new coach following Alan Moogan's surprise departure.
Midfielder Moogan, a player-coach, confirmed his exit from the Bucks yesterday. The 30-year-old has joined Liverpool full-time as a member of their community coaching programme.
Bucks assistant boss Dominic Morley revealed the hunt is well underway for his successor and admitted any replacement need not necessarily be a player-coach.
"It may be we bring in someone who will only coach and not play," he said. "We are not going to restrict ourselves in that respect.
"We have one or two people in mind and with any luck we'll have someone in place within the next couple of weeks.
"Alan told us a fortnight ago he had been offered the role at Liverpool so we always knew he might leave."
Nevertheless, Moogan's departure is something of a blow to Telford's preparations for the Skrill Conference Premier campaign, but
Morley said he would be leaving the club with their best wishes.
"Alan will be a loss," he said. "At his age it is too good a job to turn down.
It's a very good full-time position and He would have been silly not to take it. We wish him all the best."
