AFC Telford keen to set up a friendly date
AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson will step up efforts to line up another friendly fixture this week to fill their next Saturday without a game.
The Bucks' FA Cup exit at home to Hednesford two weeks ago forced them into a two-week spell out of action and another break is forthcoming.
Watson's side face another fortnight on the sidelines after today's Skrill Conference North game at home to North Ferriby United, before they visit Stockport County.
That's because next weekend's originally-scheduled visitors, Vauxhall Motors, are still involved in the cup and Watson won't sit idly by and be content to pass the time.
He arranged Wednesday's 2-1 friendly win at Conference Premier side Chester when faced with the same situation last time and is on the lookout for potential opponents.
He said: "In an ideal world, a game on the same day would be good. We are even open to offers of someone coming to us. But if we have to go away, it's not a problem. There's no real preference."
Player-coach Alan Moogan is due to have surgery on his injured groin today and is expected to be out until Christmas, with orders for complete rest after going under the knife.
The 29-year-old midfielder won't be taking any part in training sessions or leading the team into their pre and post-match warm-up. He may even be told to go out scouting.
Watson said: "After his operation, we need to keep him off his feet for as long as we can. He won't be participating in anything. I might get him out watching a few games for me."
