Liam Watson wary of North Ferriby threat to AFC Telford

AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson today insisted his side may go with the long ball game to prosper against North Ferriby, writes Craig Birch.

Tomorrow's Skrill Conference North visitors appear to be adapting seamlessly after promotion from the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League last season.

Billy Heath's robust side have stormed to second in the table after 11 games using a physical and uncompromising approach, with two deadly strikers.

Nathan Jarman and Anthony Wilson have 15 goals between them already this season and Watson believes matching them man-for-man is Telford's first task.

Watson, the only manager to win the title twice, said: "Direct football wins the Conference North. A lot of teams who have been champions have done it that way. We have got to be up for the challenge ourselves and cause them problems.

"They have spent a lot of money, won the league last season and added to their squad, so they have started off great in this division.

"It will be a good test for us. They are direct, big and strong."

"And have two very good strikers in Nathan Jarman and Ant Wilson. We need to get the crowd behind us big time tomorrow."

Telford's FA Cup exit to Hednesford was their last home game, a fortnight ago. They have had a break from league action since their useful 1-0 league win at Histon.

Wednesday's 2-1 friendly win at Conference Premier side Chester kept the players ticking over, but they face another fortnight on the sidelines after this fixture.

That's due to next Saturday's originally-scheduled visitors, Vauxhall Motors, still being involved in the cup. Both games will now take place on Tuesdays in November.

Watson said: "I know we are going to be extremely busy in November, as it's been a stop-start October. We need everyone fit and ready for what is ahead."
