Histon 0 Telford 1
AFC Telford United picked up a much-needed Skrill Conference North victory at Histon with a second-half winner from substitute Mike Phenix at the Glassworld Stadium.
Phenix struck with his first real chance on the hour after coming on to net what proved to be the decisive goal, which could be construed as being against the run of play.
Histon had wasted chances in the first-half through Kaine Sheppard, while Telford defender Wes Baynes nearly gifted Nathan Hicks an opener but goalkeeper Ryan Young bailed him out with a save.
Hicks also blazed over the bar two minutes before half-time, but it was Telford who had the best chance of the first-half just before the break.
On 39 minutes, Mike Grogan picked the ball up in the middle of the park to find Baynes on the right, whose cross was met by head of Sean Cooke but goalkeeper Calum Kitscha pushed the ball wide.
After the restart, Beckles pressed the self-destruct button, 12 minutes after he had come close to scoring after nodding wide Charlie Day's in-swinging free-kick.
Beckles lost his footing and allowed the lurking Phenix to creep in and fire past Kitscha's far corner for what proved to be a vital breakthrough.
Andy Owens should have extended the lead after being put through clean through by captain Simon Grand's long ball with three minutes to go, but he took far too long and his shot was weak.
