Kris Taylor takes a swipe at AFC Telford
Former AFC Telford United winger Kris Taylor has questioned the togetherness at his old club after helping Hednesford Town through in the FA Cup.
Taylor was part of the Pitmen side that dumped out Telford 3-1 in the second qualifying round with another ex-Buck, Elliott Durrell, scoring two of the goals.
It was a measure of satisfaction for Taylor, Durrell and former Telford manager Rob Smith, who were all returning to the New Bucks Head for the first time on Saturday.
Taylor was bombed out, initially on loan, to Hednesford by then-manager Graham Hyde before leaving in the summer, after spending a season in Shropshire.
And the 29-year-old took to Twitter, after rattling the post with a free-kick during the match, to claim that the team spirit among the visitors was far superior.
He tweeted: "The biggest thing between the two sides was team spirit and togetherness. We have got a great group, not sure they would say the same."
Smith led Hednesford to victory from the away dugout at the club he managed from February 2006 to the summer of 2010.
Assistant Larry Chambers and first-team coach Steve Wynn were on his staff during that time but Smith harbours no ill will.
He said: "We wanted to win for all of the people that have been here before but we didn't play the occasion. Of course, it was nice to come back and win but I have no enemies at Telford, just friends.
"You know what this result means? £4,500 to our football club. I know Telford don't budget for cup runs but we need to do well in this competition, because we haven't got a lot of money."
