Russell Benjamin to bounce back, says AFC Telford boss Liam Watson
AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson today backed midfielder Russell Benjamin to bounce back after his three-match suspension.
Benjamin's ban begins with today's Skrill Conference North visit of Colwyn Bay and he must watch the game at the New Bucks Head from the sidelines.
The 21-year-old was sent off two weeks ago in the Bucks' previous home game, a 1-0 defeat to Harrogate Town.
He saw the red card for a challenge on Ashley Worsfold just before half-time.
As well as today's match, the former Rochdale man will also have to sit out Tuesday's visit of Worcester City in the league and next weekend's FA Cup game at home to Hednesford Town.
But Benjamin will still train with the team before each fixture and stay within the group.
And Watson insists that the player's mood will remain positive, despite missing out.
Watson said: "From a personal point of view, Russell is lucky that his ban is going to be over in eight days.
"He's not the type of lad to mope, though, he's quite a bubbly character.
"To both of us, it wasn't a sending- off but it's done now.
"We just need to get it out of the way and move on.
"Russell is a good prospect, but has a bit of a stigma of inconsistency about him.
"However, he's only young and has a desire to do well, which is massively important."
